Sweethaven Resort
For the past 30+ years my husband and I have built or renovated 10 houses, everything from big city Victorian, to small country cottages, a storefront studio, and a chicken coop/bike shed. Currently 6 of those houses sit on 9 acres that are our business, Sweethaven Resort. We've rented fully furnished vacation cottages for 25 years.
Last spring we added a seventh cottage built by Heritage Custom Builders. We presented them with a few unique issues. We wanted a "convert-able" cottage that could be rented as 2 bdrm, a 3 bdrm or a 5 bdrm cottage. And it would be located in the woods a half mile from the road behind the existing cottages.
Mike Coeling designed a cottage with a large great room with a vaulted ceiling in the center. The south wing has 2 bdrms one bath, the north wing has 3 bdrms 2 baths. Each hallway has a sliding barn door that can be opened or closed to accommodate large or smaller parties. He was a delight to work with, expertly refining the design, helping us select the finishes and keeping the project on time and on budget. We loved our tour of the plant and meeting the guys who built our house.
Heritage Custom Builders had the toughest job. Clearing about a 6000 square-foot area for the cottage, parking pad and driveway, squeaking his giant trucks, cranes and backhoes down a winding, skinny driveway past the cottages. Then orchestrating the 6 boxes the house came in and the crew to put it together in less than a week.
The spacious rooms, beautiful finishes and idyllic setting make 'The Heron House' very popular with our guests. That makes It very profitable for us. It is built and insulated so well it is cheaper to heat and cool than our 1 bdrm cottage!
We always tell everyone what a pleasure it was to work with everyone involved with Heritage Builders, we have never had such a pleasurable experience building a house. We would do it again in a heartbeat! They could not have been more fun while being extremely professional as were their crews.

I love my new home!
I had never had a home built, or even had a 'new' home, so the decision to build one was enormous for me. I decided on modular and talked to three different builders in my area. In my mind there was no question but to go with Heritage Custom Builders. From the very start I saw the quality of their product.
Heritage Custom Builders spent many hours in person, on the phone and e-mails working with me on the design that I wanted and we created the home to suit my needs and desires. When something did not fit into my budget, they found products of similar quality that did, or found areas where we could save in order to spend more on other more costly items. They advised me on what would work best and worked my ideas into the plan so I would have what I wanted and still be following the 'code.' Working with them was a pleasant experience.
Once the foundation digging started, I got to know the team at Heritage Custom Builders quite well. They are hard workers who are determined to put out a quality product. After my home was delivered there was much to be done since I had a sunroom, screened porch, deck and walkout basement added on. I dropped by often to check on the progress. Everyone was friendly and willing to explain and to answer my questions. Several times when I decided to make some major tweaks to designs, they discussed them with me and we came up with solutions that were feasible. There were a few wrinkles, as would be with any such project, but they made suggestions and changes without grumbling, happy to accommodate my wishes!
The process of home building, I have discovered, can be nerve wracking, but the edge and worry were taken away with the help of the team at Heritage Custom Builders. They are honest, professional, friendly, and easy to work with. I highly recommend Heritage Custom Builders. Did I say that I love my new home!?

...we were treated like family
We like the models that Heritage Custom Builders had to view, so we let them know what we had in mind. He checked the build site for what we wanted and said no problem.
We wanted a walk-out basement but when we started to dig we hit water so we had to move more towards the road and garden. They said 'do you still want a walk-out or a day light basement' so the garden went. They hit water again. We moved towards the road after they asked still do you want 'walk-out.' Then the grapevines went.
They made it happen. They made a hill for us to have a 'walk-out basement.' They have a crew of very good and hard workers. All of our questions and concerns were answered from start to finish. They took care of the financing part and our preference of materials and colors. We think we were treated like family.
We would recommend their services to anyone looking to build or buy a new home.

Whether you are in the first time buyer market or the “golden years” age group, building a home is one of the biggest decisions in life. There are many modular builders available in this industry so do your homework. Research everything. Take the tour of the factory and ask lots of questions, again and again.
We have been in our Ritz Craft home for approximately 3.5 months and believe we made the right choice. There are many styles and sizes to choose from so browse them with an open to re-arrange mindset. Heritage Custom Builders made it so easy to choose our floor plan and rearrange a few walls, doors and/or windows to make our home fit our style. They were so patient and great to work with for this part of the process.
Ritz Craft has many choices and options to create the look and style wanted. We love our Cambria Quartz countertops and Mannington Adura Max flooring.
Equally, if not more important, is the choice of the LOCAL builder that will oversee all the site prep, garage and concrete work as well as any porches desired for the finished project. We believe you will NOT find a better team for this enormously important project. They are very much involved and hands on with all aspects of the build. They truly are a “from dirt to doorknobs” builder. Honesty and integrity are his trademarks.

The day we signed papers for our new home was a dream come true. The folks at Heritage made us feel like we were family. They took care of every detail and much more. Being seniors, having an all on one floor and the garage they built onto our home is such a convenience. We get many compliments on the layout and the beauty of it. All of the employees gave us their utmost respect during the transaction and setting of our lovely home. No regrets here, we would do it all over again.
